- Oil Painting, Rouge Plant, by Irving R. Bacon, 1949 - Irving Bacon, Henry Ford's favorite artist, painted this scene of Ford Motor Company's massive Rouge factory complex in 1949, two years after Ford's death. Bacon's scene captured the boat docks and storage bins for iron ore, limestone, and coal in the foreground; the blast furnaces in the center; and the powerhouse, with its eight tall smokestacks, at the right rear.
